Early signing day is only a few weeks away, and football schools throughout the country are working to finalize their recruiting classes. The Auburn football program received some bad news earlier this week when 3-star cornerback Dante Core changed his pledge from Auburn to Ole Miss.
Core committed to the Tigers in May and had stated that his recruitment was closed. He went to the Plains for the Vanderbilt game, but after a trip to Oxford for the Ole Miss-Georgia game this past weekend, he decided to cancel his commitment to head coach Hugh Freeze and the Tigers.
Auburn football still has three four-star cornerbacks committed, and the 2025 recruiting class is presently ranked fifth nationally.
Hugh Freeze talks play-calling duties
Following Auburn’s second and final bye week, head coach Hugh Freeze met with the media in preparation for the next game against ULM. Despite their terrible performance on the field this season, the Tigers remain in the top 20 in a number of offensive statistic categories.
Still, Auburn has failed to score points and win games, and Freeze and his staff have been working together to improve those execution concerns through play-calling.
“It is a blend. “Obviously, the game plan is done by all of us sitting in a room discussing what we like on base downs, shot plays, third downs, and red zone,” Freeze told AL.com. “It’s usually a mix. Kent handles the majority of the third and long balls. To be honest, Nix and I work together on the rest of it.
“When you look at the yards per attempt, it’s something you enjoy. The points aren’t coming. We’ve been in there all morning just observing, and last week we got to study a lot of other teams that are doing well, running the same stuff we are, and making plays.
Auburn football takes on ULM this Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
