Everyone who pays even a little attention to college football knows that Georgia football will be without their quarterback Carson Beck during the College Football Playoff, but that doesn’t mean he won’t still have an impact on the team during the playoffs.
Beck has not been with the team in a few weeks since he has been working with doctors and undergoing surgery, but that will change shortly, according to Kirby Smart.
“He (Beck) will join us in the next several days down here. He has been there for Gunner (Stockton) throughout. He’s been supportive of Gunner and has spoken with him several times. I’m looking forward to having him join us for this game.”
What impact will Carson Beck have on the team?
Obviously, even if Georgia wins and advances in the CFP, Beck will not play, but that does not mean he will not have a significant impact on the squad.
The most significant impact he will have is on Gunner Stockton and his preparation for the biggest game of his life. Beck will not only help him prepare for any scheme Notre Dame may throw at him, but he will also help him prepare mentally. Stockton will have Beck next to him throughout the game, and the advice and assistance Beck will provide will be invaluable, putting him in the best possible position to succeed.
Beck’s presence on the sideline will benefit the entire team as well. It is no secret that Beck is one of the team’s leaders, whether he is on the field or not, so his presence at the game and support for his team will benefit all of the players, just as it will Stockton.
So, while Beck will not have a direct impact on the game on the field, he will be able to help Georgia in a variety of other ways. And if UGA defeats Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl, Beck will get some of the credit.
