The Philadelphia Phillies are reportedly considering trade proposals for All-Star third baseman Alec Bohm. While this rumor began before the Phillies acquired Jesús Luzardo, there’s still a strong possibility Bohm will be transferred for an outfielder like Luis Robert Jr. If Bohm is traded, the Phillies will need to replace him, and the ideal third baseman is in St. Louis.

The St. Louis Cardinals are reportedly frantically seeking to move Nolan Arenado, and the Phillies are among the teams he would waive his no-trade clause to. If the Phillies move Bohm, Arenado is the best option to replace him at the hot corner. Here’s a deal that would send Arenado to Philadelphia if the Phillies decide to trade Bohm:

Philadelphia Phillies get: 3B Nolan Arenado gets $25 million. The St. Louis Cardinals receive: OF Gabriel Rincones Jr. (No. 11 Prospect) The Cardinals would trade Arenado and $25 million to the Phillies in exchange for Gabriel Rincones Jr.

Rincones Jr. is a 6-foot 3 left-handed hitter with the power potential to be a middle of the order bat. The 23-year-old will likely be developed enough to crack the big leagues in 2025, whether that be with the Phillies or another team. The Phillies would get the veteran leader they’re looking for in this deal, along with $25 million to pay half of Arenado’s remaining contract. Losing Rincones wouldn’t crush the Phillies farm system, especially if they add an outfielder by trading Bohm.

Finally, this idea boils down to whether Philadelphia wants to deal Bohm in the first place. If the Phillies’ third baseman stays in Philadelphia, there is little reason to suppose they would consider trading Arenado.
