The Georgia Bulldogs are gearing up for their first game in the 12-team College Football Playoff, following a bye week in the first round. Georgia will face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on January 1 at 8:45 p.m. ET. Given Carson Beck’s latest injury prognosis, the Bulldogs will be led on the field by backup quarterback Gunner Stockton.
Beck will miss the rest of the 2024 college football season after sustaining an elbow injury against the Texas Longhorns in the SEC Championship Game. Beck has decided on his collegiate football future as he works to regain playing form after elbow surgery. Beck stated on Saturday that he would declare for the 2025 NFL draft, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
Beck concluded the 2024 college football season with 28 touchdowns, 3,485 yards, and a 64.7 completion %. The 2024 season marks his second season as a full-time starter for the Bulldogs. Beck scored 24 touchdowns and gained 3,941 yards in his rookie season, 2023, with a 72.4 completion percentage.
Beck was originally recruited to the Bulldogs in 2020 as a four-star prospect, with 247Sports ranking him as the No. 9 pro-style quarterback and No. 254 overall player in the nation. According to PFF, some of the top quarterback prospects in the 2025 NFL draft are Jalen Milroe, Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders, and Quinn Ewers. While these players have yet to officially declare for the draft, there is widespread anticipation that Beck will enter this pool.
