On Wednesday night, the Georgia Bulldogs will face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the second round of the College Football Playoff.

Carson Beck, the Bulldogs’ standout quarterback, will miss the game after injuring his throwing elbow in the SEC title game against Texas. Following surgery that ended his 2024 season, Beck revealed his intention to enter the 2025 NFL Draft.

“The past five years at the University of Georgia have been nothing short of a dream come true and I will forever cherish the memories that have been made,” according to him. “Thank you, Dawg Nation, for the time I’ve spent here, and thank you to everyone who has supported and believed in me. It’s been a great trip, and all of these experiences have prepared me to take the next step in my football career. That being said, I will declare for the 2025 NFL Draft. “Go, Dawgs!”

Backup quarterback Gunner Stockton will start on Wednesday night in place of Beck, who head coach Kirby Smart confirmed is with the team for the game. “He’s been there for Gunner throughout,” Smart added of Beck. “He has backed Gunner and had numerous chats with him. I’m looking forward to having him join us for this game.”

Beck will not be competing on the field, but he has the backing of his girlfriend Hanna Cavinder. On New Year’s Eve, Cavinder published a series of images from 2024, including one of her and Beck on the pitch.
