Travis Kelce, a Kansas City Chiefs tight end, was fined after the AFC championship game for getting up in the face of Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin following a Chiefs touchdown. Kelce experienced a similar incident in his team’s Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, but this time he escaped the NFL’s wrath. A viral video from the Super Bowl shows Kelce in a heated exchange with Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis. After taking a big hit, the Chiefs tight end confronted Davis and pushed the Eagles defender.

Kelce was not called for taunting or unnecessary roughness on the play, and the NFL ultimately decided not to fine him. On February 15, the league announced two Super Bowl fines: $14,069 for Eagles defensive tackle Milton Williams for spiking the football over the crossbar after forcing a fumble, and $5,690 for Eagles linebacker Jalyx Hunt for a “violent gesture.”

Kelce did not receive a fine after his heated exchange with Davis, though several fans think he deserved one. “Travis Kelce is the only player allowed to repeatedly taunt others….never gets a flag,” a fan posted on X in reaction to the video of Kelce’s confrontation with Davis.

Others speculated that Kelce was attempting to get under the Eagles defenders’ skin, a strategy that failed as the Eagles defense tormented the Chiefs on route to a 40-22 victory. “I think they were shown footage and coached HARD not to fall for his chatter,” a fan posted to X. “He likes to talk and provoke the opposing team into a reaction, which gets them flagged. “Eagles were disciplined.
