According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Red Sox and right-handed reliever Adam Ottavino have agreed to a small agreement that includes a spring training invite.

The 39-year-old Ottavino spent the last three seasons with the Mets. Prior to that, he played one season for Boston in 2021.

Last season, the Northeastern alum appeared in 60 games for the Mets, striking out 70 in 56 innings while posting a 4.34 ERA. Ottavino’s ERA for the Mets was 3.14.

Ottavino had appeared in 69 games for the Red Sox, recording a 4.21 ERA over 62 innings.

The Cardinals promoted Ottavino to the Major Leagues in 2010, after drafting him as the 30th overall pick in 2006. He played for Northeastern from 2004 to 2006, becoming the university’s second-highest MLB draft pick in history.
