The Ohio State Buckeyes climbed the college football mountain and won the national championship. Following a grueling College Football Playoff, Ohio State defeated the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the national championship game. During the College Football Playoff, they defeated Notre Dame, Texas, Oregon and Tennessee.
After a successful college football season, rookie wide receiver Jeremiah Smith shared a couple images of himself training in Ohio State apparel. “Gotta love this [expletive],” Smith wrote.
Smith established himself as one of the top wide receivers in the country during his freshman year. Smith had five receptions for 88 yards and one touchdown in the 34-23 national championship win over Notre Dame. He finished his freshman season with 15 touchdowns and 1,315 yards from 76 receptions.
Smith won the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and Big Ten Receiver of the Year awards during his freshman year at Ohio State. Smith also holds the Big Ten record for the most receiving touchdowns by a true freshman in a single season (14). He passed former Purdue Boilermakers standout Rondale Moore, who scored 12 touchdowns in the 2018 NCAA football season.
