The Notre Dame Fighting Irish fell short of their ultimate objective of capturing their first national title in nearly four decades against Ohio State in January, but coach Marcus Freeman and his team have proceeded to carve a new route forward. The Fighting Irish’s Class of 2025 is ranked 12th in the country entering into the spring college football season, which is expected to revolve around the team’s quest for a new quarterback to replace departing standout Riley Leonard.
On Saturday, Freeman posted an update of his son Vinny’s wrestling exploits, demonstrating the Freeman family’s success once again. “Congrats on getting your 100th win and finishing third in the @IHSAA1 (Indiana High School Athletic Association) State Wrestling Championships,” Freeman wrote, with the hashtag ‘VinnysDad.’

Sean Bormet, the wrestling coach of the University of Michigan, has already visited Vinny Freeman. The younger Freeman is a 5-foot-11, 190-pound wrestler who competes in the 175-pound weight division and excels on the football field. Coach Freeman’s Fighting Irish are set to host their annual Blue and Gold spring game on April 12, 2025, at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana, at 2 p.m. ET, with the game broadcast on NBC’s Peacock network.
