The Boston Red Sox finished last year with an 81-81 record, missing the playoffs for the third consecutive season. This offseason, the Red Sox front office ensured that the organization would not go down the same road as in the past by acquiring big-time players. Boston traded for Chicago White Sox ace Garrett Crochet and signed Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Walker Buehler.

The Red Sox were not done adding to their roster; during free agency, they signed Houston Astros slugger Alex Bregman. Boston is preparing to make a push for the postseason this year, and New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone is aware.

“I believe we began to see an athletic bunch emerge last year. Boone told Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe, “I thought they really moved the needle in terms of pitching and have obviously only bolstered that this year.” “With Alex Bregman lately joining the squad, they appear to have a very strong lineup. We discuss our division and how difficult it is; I certainly feel that way sitting here right now. You can present a case for all five teams.”

It’s safe to assume that the Yankees will not take the Red Sox lightly this season. Given how much both teams have improved this year, it might be another memorable postseason for both.
