The Cincinnati Bengals have had a busy summer in coaching, as they aim to replace a few coaches in crucial positions.
Obviously, the major hire was Al Golden taking over as the new defensive coordinator, but there have been a few reports regarding other support staff coaches joining the defensive side of the ball as well.
Jerry Montgomery was named as the team’s new defensive line coach a few weeks ago, and Montgomery has now confirmed the addition of Mike Moon to the staff.
Moon’s hiring was first reported by John Brice of Football Scoop, who stated that he was hired in January but had some questions about his role.

Montgomery, who spoke on In the Trenches with Dave Lapham this week, revealed Moon’s staff role.
“I’ll tell you what: it’s absolutely time-consuming. But, you know, they give you deadlines for specific things you know need to be done, so you prioritize them accordingly,” Montgomery explained. “And, to be honest, we have a young man named Mike Moon who has been here and has been able to help with the process. He’ll be assisting with the front, so it’s been great to have him here.”
When it comes to the defensive coaching staff, things are beginning to fall into place. The Bengals will have high expectations this season as they attempt to return to the NFL Playoffs. Let’s hope all of these reunions improve the relationship from the start.
