Miami Marlins’ ace, is off to a strong start in spring. In two spring training starts, the right-hander has gone three innings without surrendering a run. Better yet, the former Cy Young Award winner’s fastball has regularly hovered around 100 mph.

With the righty coming from Tommy John surgery with such a vengeance, he will be a coveted commodity on the trade market. According to FanSided’s Jacob Mountz, the Boston Red Sox could be among the favorites to acquire Alcantara if he becomes available for trade this season.

“As of now, Boston has two presumably reliable starters in Crochet and Tanner Houck in addition to intriguing arms like Walker Buehler, Brayan Bello, Kutter Crawford, and the returning Lucas Giolito,” Mountz wrote in the letter. “Adding Alcantara would not only provide the Red Sox with a new ace, but also the rotational depth they desperately need. Going into the season, it appears that the Red Sox may be the most eager to complete such a trade.”

The Red Sox would be an ideal landing spot for Alcantara. Boston has a deep farm system to draw from to bring in a controllable ace like the Marlins’ righty. The Red Sox are also in the American League, whereas the Marlins are in the National League.

For Boston, adding Alcantara would provide the Sox with a second ace to complement Garrett Crochet. With these two at the top of the rotation, the Red Sox may win the division and possibly the World Series.
