Shane Bieber, the Cleveland Guardians’ ace, had Tommy John surgery around 11 months ago.
Most pitchers recover from the operation within 14-16 months.
However, Bieber is unlike most pitchers.
He is one of the most disciplined and determined athletes in Major League Baseball.
Yes, he was disappointed when he realized he would have to have surgery last year, but he emotionally rebounded, finished every phase of his rehab, and is now expected to return in the first half.
In other words, he may be ahead of schedule, even if the business would not use that specific phrase to prevent creating unrealistic expectations.
On his show, Cleveland sportscaster Bruce Drennan spoke with Guardians Senior Vice President of Public Affairs Bob DiBiasio on Bieber’s return to full health.
DiBiasio couldn’t help but be pleased with the pitcher’s attitude and approach.
The ace is behaving as if he is confident that he will return to his rightful place.
“He is a man who does not hunch his shoulders or sulk. “He’s upright and confident.” Bob DiBiasio,” Drennan wrote on X about Bieber.
It’s difficult not to get excited about Bieber’s impending return, given how fantastic he appeared before suffering an injury in March and April of 2024.
He struck out 20 batters and allowed no runs in 12 innings of work.
Bieber is already throwing bullpens and might make significant progress in his rehabilitation.
He still has a few stages to complete, but he should be back before June.
