The ACC men’s basketball regular season concluded on Saturday, with all 18 teams playing. Miami, which recently hired former Duke assistant Jai Lucas as its new head coach, finished with a 72-70 victory over NC State.
Miami finishes 7-24, as the Hurricanes begin a new era under Lucas.
Duke, on the other hand, defeated North Carolina 82-69 to secure the top spot in the ACC Tournament and the ACC regular-season championship with a 19-1 record.
After the game, Lucas, who was still with Duke, posted a farewell message on Instagram.
“Man… What a ride. I am so thankful for these last 3 years at Duke. Hate that I can’t finish this adventure with this crew. It’s only appropriate that it started with a championship and ended with a championship.”

Following the win, Duke head coach Jon Scheyer was seen with Lucas just before entering the locker room. Scheyer said to Lucas, “You’re in this with me,” and the two ran into the locker room to celebrate.
Lucas will now go to Miami as he tries to get a head start on the recruiting front and the transfer portal, although it is nothing but love between Lucas, Scheyer and the rest of the Duke team.
