Under head coach Marcus Freeman, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish had an incredible season, winning 14-2 before falling to the Ohio State Buckeyes in the national title.
Now, the squad is doing everything it can to ensure similar success in the coming years, including putting a lot of effort into recruiting high-level players. Freeman and the Fighting Irish have done incredibly well, as they currently have the nation’s No. 11 ranked 2026 recruiting class, according to On3, with five four-stars and two three-stars. Steve Wiltfong predicts that Notre Dame will receive a commitment from EDGE Rodney Dunham of Charlotte, North Carolina.
If this were to happen, it would be major news for Notre Dame and Freeman, as Dunham is rated as a five-star recruit, the No. 3 EDGE, the No. 1 player in North Carolina, and the No. 7 player nationally. Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Oregon, Alabama, Michigan, and Ohio State are among the other impressive clubs vying for Dunham’s pledge.

Some other big names. Notre Dame has already landed in the same class: four-star offensive lineman Tyler Merrill, four-star quarterback Noah Grubbs, four-star linebacker Thomas Davis Jr., and four-star cornerback Chaston Smith
