The Los Angeles Angels have had a strong start to the 2025 MLB season. The Angels were in good shape heading into Tuesday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals, having won three of their first four games after a team record 99 losses previous season.
Los Angeles, which defeated St. Louis in extra innings on Monday, was trying to make it four consecutive victory to start the series. With a mix of veterans like star outfielder Mike Trout and young players like 22-year-old pitcher Ryan Johnson, the Angels believe their team will be far more competitive than last year’s.
The Angels continued to make moves on Tuesday, announcing a fresh deal in which a relief pitcher is sent to the Atlanta Braves in return for financial considerations. “The #Angels have traded RHP Michael Petersen to the Atlanta Braves in exchange for cash considerations,” the organization tweeted on X.
Petersen has made 16 MLB appearances since debuting with the Los Angeles Dodgers last season. The 6-foot-7 right-hander was waived by the Dodgers before signing with the Miami Marlins, where he made five appearances before being waived again and claimed by the Toronto Blue Jays (source: Baseball Reference).

Petersen, who had a 5.95 ERA between Los Angeles and Miami, was claimed off waivers by the Angels before to Spring Training and was later traded to Atlanta for cash. He appeared five times for the Angels this spring, pitching 5.2 innings and allowing five hits and two earned runs.
