Due to a bone injury in his left knee, St. Louis Cardinals catcher Ivan Herrera was placed on the 10-day injured list.
With Herrera out, Pedro Pages should see the majority of the play behind the plate. Yohel Pozo, a catcher, was selected in the starting lineup for the Cardinals’ game against Pittsburgh after being raised from Triple-A Memphis.
In the first game of a doubleheader at Boston, Herrera, 24, sustained an injury. It is anticipated that he will be out for four weeks.
In his first season as a full-time starter, Herrera was off to a scorching start, hitting.381 with four home runs and 11 RBIs in seven games.
After running the bases, he needed assistance getting off the field since he was unable to bear weight on his left leg. He was tested, and the results came back negative.
Before the Cardinals’ series start against the Pirates, manager Oliver Marmol declared, “It was really good news.” “I believed he might have had an ACL tear based on how his knee buckled.”
