Finally, the long-awaited update has been released. Hubert Davis has been trying to find a good alternative to lead the UNC attack ever after former 5-star signee Elliot Cadeau entered the transfer portal.

Finding a great point guard has been a very difficult task. However, shattering news did occur Wednesday night when Kyan Evans, a transfer from Colorado State, committed to the Tar Heels. Evans shocked everyone when he revealed his choice on social media:

Point guard Kyan Evans has committed to Hubert Davis and North Carolina

Evans joins West Virginia guard Jonathan Powell and big man Henri Veesaar as the third known commit for Davis through the gateway. Naturally, the Tar Heels are still searching for more seasoned playmakers, as Tre Holloman and Kanon Catchings are both anticipated to visit later this week.

Evans, meanwhile, just finished a successful sophomore campaign in which he assisted Colorado State in winning the Mountain West championship. The 6-2, 175-pound Kansas City player averaged 10.6 points, 3.1 assists, and 2.9 rebounds per game during the season.

Evans’ impressive performance in an upset victory over Memphis in the first round of the NCAA Tournament cemented his reputation. Evans went 6-of-9 from 3-point range to score 23 points in the contest. Overall, he shot 7 out of 11 from the field.

Evans hit two for four from beyond the arc in the devastating second-round defeat to Maryland. He shot a remarkable 44.6 percent from beyond the arc during the season. Naturally, the Tar Heels will benefit greatly from that kind of stability in the upcoming season.

Cadeau and Jalen Washington’s losses to Vanderbilt and Michigan earlier in the spring were painful. Seth Trimble’s return for his senior year is another significant victory for the staff, and Davis now has three portal commits on board.
