On and off the court, two Duke basketball offer holders seem to get along.
Without a doubt, fourth-year Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer has two top targets for 2026: shooting guard Jordan Smith Jr. of Paul VI Catholic High School (Va.) and point guard Brandon McCoy Jr. of St. John Bosco High School (Calif.). They were the first in their class to visit the Blueblood program, and they also make up two-thirds of the Blue Devils’ stated wishlist for the cycle.
It’s also important to note that the same weekend in early November, McCoy and Smith took a tour of the Durham campus.
Even though they played their high school ball on different coasts, they have remained friends and have never ruled out working together again at a higher level.
When asked if he could see himself signing a package deal with Smith in college, McCoy, a 6-foot-4, 185-pound five-star who is ranked No. 2 overall on the 247Sports 2026 Composite, said, “I think so,” this week on NBA TV’s Krysten Peek. “I mean, I don’t really mind where I go to school. I am all for a variety of experiences.

Smith, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound five-star who now ranks fourth among the country’s top juniors, agreed with McCoy.
“Yeah, I would love to play with Brandon,” he replied. “For example, I concur with all he just said. Together, we play pretty well. We get along well together.”
“We just feed off each other really well.”
