One of the most illustrious football programs in college football history is Notre Dame. This is one of the reasons why South Bend is constantly crowded with people who want to visit the Fighting Irish. However, a number of the men knocking on the door lately are the sons of former NFL players.

Among them is Elijah Burress, a wide receiver. Another is Jerome Bettis Jr. Bryant Young, a Hall of Famer, is the father of Bryce Young. Last season, Ryan Clark’s son, Jordan Clark, played for the team. Marcus Freeman is the head coach, so it’s not only that sons of former NFL players are moving to South Bend.

In a recent in-depth conversation with podcaster JD Pickell, Freeman discussed a variety of subjects, including why Notre Dame football has grown to be such a popular destination for NFL players’ children.

Marcus Freeman knows why Notre Dame football is a hotspot for NFL legacies

“The chance to grow as a football player, both here and across the nation, but also the chance to earn a degree that will really help you outside of football,” Freeman said to Pickell. “I believe that many of those guys who have played in the NFL and in college recognize the importance of this university, not just its football program, but also the network and the people you interact with on a daily basis here at a place like this.”

There has been discussion regarding Notre Dame’s offerings outside of athletics for a long time. Scholastics is taken seriously at the school. The Irish constantly emphasize it, whilst other schools only give it lip regard.

Then there are some who have witnessed it directly, such as Jerome Bettis. They share with their friends, previous teammates, and teammates. As word gets out, South Bend becomes a popular travel destination.

Freeman has undoubtedly put a lot of effort into this. Since taking over at Notre Dame football, it’s one of the reasons he’s been able to sign some of the best players in each class. Those NFL dads are aware that he believes what he says.
