According to Christopher Smith of MassLive, Hunter Dobbins will be making a comeback to the Boston Red Sox lineup before their series start against the Chicago White Sox on Friday. The 25-year-old prospect will assist manager Alex Cora in providing respite for Red Sox pitchers, including Garrett Crochet.
In his MLB debut, Dobbins pitched well against the St. Louis Cardinals, getting five strikeouts and issuing two free passes in 93 pitches while allowing two runs over five innings. The prospect faced one of the league’s poorest teams, so Cora picked a decent game for him to throw in. The Red Sox want to win the first game of their series and hope Crochet can turn in another outstanding performance against his old team.
Boston needs pitchers to step up because of injuries, so Dobbin’s return to the team comes at a good moment. Brayan Bello and Lucas Giolito are both on a 15-day injured list, which leaves the pitching staff without arms.
In addition to Rafael Devers’ and Triston Casas’ inconsistent play, Cora is having trouble handling injuries. As the Red Sox infielders tried to get back on track, their manager called them out. But it should help to play a series versus the White Sox.
This offseason, the Boston completed significant trades to acquire Crochet and Alex Bregman. How far the Red Sox can go is uncertain.
Boston is riding a two-game winning streak but is now at.500 on the season before of its series against Chicago. The Red Sox lost two of three games in their last series against the White Sox. To demonstrate their superiority, they are biting at the bit.

In an attempt to maintain his success in the major leagues, Dobbins will take the mound for Boston on Friday. If he succeeds, the Red Sox will gain momentum that might enhance their season prospects.
