Tyrese Proctor will now take a stab at the next level after three Duke basketball seasons.

Tyrese Proctor changed his classification in order to get to Durham early, which was when Jon Scheyer’s Duke basketball dynasty began. The Australian guard, a devoted Blue Devil who started every game for all three seasons, improved his skill set while assisting the team in moving up the NCAA Tournament ladder each year, which led to a Final Four trip two weeks ago.

Proctor now hopes to put his abilities to the test in the NBA.

The 21-year-old, who some major boards forecast will be selected in the second round, formally announced his intention to enter the 2025 NBA Draft on Friday night.

Proctor’s declaration prompted the 37-year-old head coach to express thanks for being the first Duke basketball scholarship player to play during the first three seasons of the Jon Scheyer era:

“It’s been an incredible ride with Tyrese Proctor,” Scheyer said of the two-time victory in the ACC Tournament. Tyrese, you understand that it goes beyond his actions from the previous season. For me, it’s about the journey we’ve taken together over the past three seasons and witnessing his personal development during his time at Duke.

“He arrived here while playing for a man who had never held the position of head coach before… When you consider his leadership and the way he genuinely embraced our young men, especially, and then served as a reassuring presence on the court,…

“It’s time for him to chase that NBA dream.”
