Duke basketball walk-on Jamie Shaw of On3 initially reported on Friday that he had logged into the transfer portal.
The 7-foot, 241-pound Turkish center, who gained notoriety among Cameron Crazies for his “Careless Whisper” saxophone talents during his October 2022 debut at Countdown to Craziness, played in just five Blue Devil games. Additionally, Borden never scored in those few outings, which were mostly late mop-up duties in lopsided contests.
As a result of his philanthropic deeds, practice assistance, and the aforementioned audacious musical performances, Borden ends his four years at Duke, starting with his freshman season in the final season under the great head coach Mike Krzyzewski.
However, in his ten minutes on the court while wearing a Blue Devil jersey, he shot just 0-for-1 from the field and finished with three rebounds, one block, two turnovers, and one foul.
Stanley Borden is the only Duke basketball player from 2024–25 to use the transfer portal so far.
