Marcus Allen, a freshman wing and transfer from Missouri, formally committed to the Hurricanes through the NCAA transfer portal on Wednesday, marking a major milestone in Miami’s summer transformation.
According to 247Sports, Allen, a 6-foot-6 guard from Miami’s Norland High, was a four-star prospect before deciding to join the Tigers in 2024.
He played in 26 games at Missouri, averaging 2.6 points and 2.0 rebounds while playing 9.2 minutes per game.
In a defeat against Auburn on January 1, he had his finest game of the year, scoring nine points, pulling down five boards, and grabbing three steals in 22 minutes of action.
Allen’s decision to sign with Miami for the 2025–2026 campaign was revealed on X by Joe Tipton of On3Sports.
Along with Missouri, Florida State, Indiana, and other schools, Miami was among the first to express interest in Allen when he graduated from high school.
He is now returning home to South Beach to join Jai Lucas, the new head coach and former Duke assistant.
Lucas, a former McDonald’s All-American, served as an assistant at Kentucky and Texas before coming to Duke in 2022–2025.
Lucas was appointed head coach of the Hurricanes after a successful 2024–25 season as Jon Scheyer’s assistant head coach.
For Miami, who experienced an atrocious 7-24 record and finished last in the ACC a season ago, going 3-17 in league play, Allen’s pledge couldn’t come at a better time.

The Hurricanes can better survive the attrition that beset them the previous season now that Allen is officially on board and they have depth on the wing.
