Recently, the Los Angeles Angels have been in a bad spot. The Halos are now 12-12 after losing seven of their past 10 games after beginning the season 9-5. They are now in fourth place in the American League West division as a result of this skid.
Pitching has been Los Angeles’ biggest issue. With a 4.44 ERA, the Angels’ pitchers currently rank 24th in the Major Leagues. They also rank in the bottom 10 in terms of walks (94), home runs allowed (32) and WHIP (1.42). To save a struggling pitching staff, the Angels will have to make some roster changes.
The Angels announced several roster changes, including one on right-handed pitcher Ian Anderson, after their series opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He has been assigned, according to the team. Before the season began, the Angels acquired Anderson from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for pitcher Jose Suarez. Ironically, this past week, Atlanta also DFA’d their addition from the trade.

In the major leagues, the 26-year-old has amassed 281.2 innings. He has amassed a 4.22 ERA and 1.370 WHIP during that time.
Anderson has struggled to stay healthy since a career season in 2021 in which he generated 2.8 bWAR; he missed all of the 2023 and 2024 seasons, and his comeback attempt with Los Angeles was brief. The right-hander has struggled mightily in seven games this season, throwing 9.1 innings as a Halo and giving up 12 earned runs for an 11.57 ERA. His 2.571 WHIP this season is nearly double his career mark.
