The Chicago White Sox have chosen to sign pitcher Steve Wilson to a contract and have designated pitcher Mike Clevinger for assignment.
After being invited to spring training, Clevinger was promoted to the team’s roster. However, in his eight relief appearances this season, he recorded a 0–2 record. In 5.2 innings pitched, he recorded a 7.94 ERA, three strikeouts, and eight walks.
With a 9-14 record and a 4.24 ERA in 36 games, Clevinger has been with the White Sox for the past three seasons.
This spring, Wilson made five appearances at Triple-A Charlotte to begin the season, recording a 1.69 ERA.

With first pitch scheduled for 6:40 p.m. on Wednesday, the White Sox will take on the Athletics at Rate Field in an attempt to improve on their 4-12 record. The White Sox, who have dropped ten of their previous twelve games, will be replaced by Jonathan Cannon.
