The Los Angeles Angels have been on a slump as of late. After a strong start to the season, the Halos have dropped to 12-14 after losing five of their last seven games, including two in a row. They are currently two and a half games behind the Texas Rangers, who are in first place in the American League West division, with a record that is two games below.500.
This season, the Angels’ bullpen has been one of their biggest problems. With a bullpen ERA of 5.02, Los Angeles is currently ranked 25th in the Majors. As a result, the team has made some roster moves in hopes of adding a spark to the pitching staff.
The Angels made the following announcements on Saturday morning:
RHP José Fermin’s contract was chosen, RHP Victor Mederos was optioned, RHP Carl Edwards Jr. was assigned, and LHP Jake Eder was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake.
During his five seasons with the Chicago Cubs, Edwards was a standout, especially in 2018 when he had a 2.60 ERA in 58 games.

As for the others, Eder has been decent in nine innings in Triple-A. He has a 13.9 K/9 rate and a 6.00 ERA. Fermin has been dominant in the Angels’ system this season. In eight innings thrown, the 23-year-old has allowed just one run and relinquished just four base runners. He has a K/9 rate of 16.0 and has thrown to a WHIP of.500.
Both pitchers will try to give the ailing Angels bullpen some spark.
