According to journalist Alan Nixon, Ipswich Town would have offered Blackburn Rovers striker Sam Gallagher a three-year deal if he had moved to Portman Road.
Kieran McKenna sought to add additional attacking alternatives to his team during the transfer season, thus the club signed Kieffer Moore on loan from Bournemouth.
Ipswich wanted to recruit Gallagher from Blackburn, but the Ewood Park club refused to negotiate and rejected offers for the striker.
Blackburn are set to trigger a clause in Gallagher’s contract to now extend it by a further year in order that he cannot depart for nothing in the summer.
Gallagher though would have got significant security if he had been able to join Ipswich.
The Tractor Boys were ready to hand him a three-and-a-half year contract, running until the summer of 2024.
It remains to be seen if Ipswich revisit their interest in Gallagher in the summer.
Gallagher came through the junior system at Plymouth Argyle and Southampton before joining Blackburn in 2019.
