Anthony Weaver, the new Dolphins defensive coordinator, believes the unit he will teach in Miami will be very similar to the one he coached as an assistant in Baltimore during the last three years.
“The scheme that we used in Baltimore is extremely multiple and flexible, and the foundation of what we’re going to do here will be from that,” Weaver said in a statement.
Weaver cited Ravens head coach John Harbaugh as one of his two greatest influences, along with Romeo Crennel, with whom he had coached for the Texans. Weaver has stated that it is more important how a coach treats his or her players than the Xs and Os.
Coach them hard and love them up. Usually, when you do that, they reply for you,” Weaver explained.
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel stated that when searching for a new defensive coordinator, he was looking for the proper fit on a personal level, and Weaver stated that he and McDaniel have coaching values that will help them build a good squad.
