Will the Braves and Ronald Acuna Jr. agree on a contract extension?
Ronald Acuna Jr. aspires to be a “Brave for Life.” According to David O’Brien of The Athletic, the Atlanta Braves star hopes to complete his career with the franchise and has shown interest in a long-term deal extension.
“It’s not a secret that I want to be a Brave for life,” Acuna said. “It’s my hope that we can make that happen soon.”
Acuna won the 2023 National League MVP and is one of the best players in the sport. He previously signed a contract with the Braves that will keep him in Atlanta through 2028, with club options in 2027 and 2028. Acuna, though, seems to want a long-term deal that will keep him with the ball club for the rest of his career.
Ronald Acuna Jr wants to be a “Brave for life”
At 26 years old and coming off an amazing season, the Braves will need to pay a large sum of money to keep Acuna for the long term. Atlanta would be expected to make the move, given Acuna’s rise to superstar status.
It will be intriguing to see if Ronald Acuna Jr. and the Braves reach an agreement on a contract. Acuna stated that he would prefer to get something done “soon,” thus contract extension conversations may take place this spring.
Acuna addressed injury concerns in 2021 and 2022. Nonetheless, he made the All-Star team in both seasons. Acuna has consistently excelled anytime he has taken the field. His statistics indicate that he is on pace for the Hall of Fame, as long as he remains healthy in the future.
There is no pressure on the Braves to grant Acuna an extension because he is under team control until 2028. But if one of baseball’s finest players openly indicates a desire to accept a long-term contract, why wouldn’t you at least consider it?
