The most recent Sunderland-related transfer rumors from around the web ahead of the summer window.
Sunderland defender Dan Ballard has been linked with a move to Premier League club Everton in recent days, and the Black Cats are also apparently looking for a centre-back during the summer transfer window.
Since joining the club a year and a half ago, the former Arsenal player has established himself as one of the Championship’s greatest young centre-backs.
However, Sunderland’s transfer boss Kristjaan Speakman is covered in the event of an offer this summer, as the player signed a long-term contract with the club last summer that will continue until 2027.
Given the length of Ballard’s contract and his importance to the team, Sunderland are expected to seek for around £20 million for his services, a big return on his £2 million arrival from Arsenal in 2022, though the Gunners may be owed some add-ons.
Ballard will miss the game against Swansea after receiving ten yellow cards, with Jenson Seelt expected to come in. Luke O’Nien is one booking away from a two-game suspension.
In terms of incoming moves, Sunderland have been connected with 21-year-old Manchester United defender Will Fish, who also plays centre-back and may be Ballard’s long-term replacement if he leaves.
Championship rivals Middlesbrough and Ipswich Town are both believed to be interested. Both Kieran McKenna and Michael Carrick have strong Manchester United ties, although Sunderland and the Red Devils have done business in recent years, with Nathan Bishop and Amad coming from Old Trafford during the last few seasons.
