It appears that Manchester City will be without Kevin De Bruyne for Saturday night’s FA Cup quarterfinal at the Etihad.
It was revealed today that the midfield playmaker was not selected by Belgium for the forthcoming international break owing to a slight groin injury, making him unlikely to participate this weekend.
De Bruyne changed the game for Manchester City in their 3-2 triumph at St James’ Park earlier this year, coming off the bench to score an equalizer and setting up Oscar Bobb’s late winner with an excellent ball.
Additionally, goalkeeper Ederson has been ruled out. The Brazilian sustained an injury in their 1-1 tie with Liverpool over the weekend and is set to be out for three to four weeks with a thigh issue.
As for Newcastle, Craig Hope reports that Anthony Gordon is set to return to training ‘over the next few days’ after receiving his first senior England call-up, giving him a real possibility of playing in a game he was earlier slated to miss.
