The Miami Dolphins have been on a frenzy since the free agent signing period began. Miami has witnessed a good amount of player turnover, including veterans who have been with the team for several years.
With all of these acquisitions and subtractions, you have to question if they will be as successful this season as they were last.
The recent departures includes wide receiver Cedrick Wilson Jr. and starting safety DeShon Elliott, who has since joined with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Miami Dolphins Wide Receiver Emotional Over Teammate’s Departure
Jaylen Waddle, a Dolphins fan favorite, took to social media to wish Wilson the best of success after it was reported he would be leaving the organization. “This one hurt man!!!” Waddle tweeted, adding, “This my dawg.”
Wilson agreed to a two-year deal with the New Orleans Saints on March 14. Though he only played for the Miami Dolphins for two seasons, he and Waddle got along well and had a positive vibe.
Prior to joining Miami, the 28-year-old was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL draft following a stellar career at Coffeyville Community College and Boise State.

Wilson signed a three-year, $21 million contract with Miami as a free agency in 2022, intending to be Waddle’s direct partner, but a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs brought in Tyreek Hill only six days later. Wilson struggled to establish himself as a viable option because Hill and Waddle were the top two receivers, forcing Wilson to play catch-up.
During his stint with the Dolphins, he gained 432 yards on 34 catches and three touchdowns in the regular season. He also had four receptions for 51 yards in the playoffs. Wilson only started three games for Miami, although he appeared in 32 overall, including postseason games. While on special teams, he returned 17 punts for an average of 7.5 yards.
Wilson became a free agency after his contract was canceled, which made him ineligible to become a compensating free agent. Wilson was one of five wide receivers who became free agents on Wednesday, joining River Cracraft, Robbie Chosen, Chase Claypool, and Braxton Berrios.
