The Premier League has confirmed the referee for Newcastle United’s game against West Ham United on Saturday.

The Magpies are prepared to welcome the Hammers to St James’ Park as the season’s final international break comes to a conclusion.

Many Newcastle United players have been away representing their countries, with Anthony Gordon earning the most headlines upon his England debut. That night, he faced Toon teammate Bruno Guimaraes, who was playing superbly for Brazil.

He was with Lucas Paqueta at Wembley, who will be at St James’ Park this weekend. However, he will be Bruno’s opponent as the Brazilian friends prepare to square off against West Ham in Newcastle.

The opposite fixture was fraught with controversy, with Bruno narrowly missing a red card for two yellow cards, while Newcastle received a few additional favorable decisions from the officials.

Rob Jones to referee Newcastle United vs West Ham

West Ham fans will be hoping for more this weekend, as it has been revealed that Rob Jones will be the referee.

This will be the 36-year-old’s fourth outing as a referee for Newcastle United this season, with only one being at St James’ Park.

His first Newcastle game was a 1-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium in August, and the other two were victories over Manchester United.

One of those victories was the Carabao Cup win at Old Trafford. Eddie Howe’s side dominated, winning 3-0 and eliminating the Red Devils from the competition.

Newcastle cruised to victory, and it could have been even easier if Rob Jones had done the right thing and sent Hannibal Mejbri out for two yellow cards in the first half.

The midfielder was booked in the 14th minute after colliding with Sean Longstaff. It was an unnecessary display of violence that deservedly resulted in a yellow card.

Minutes later, Mejbri was at it again. He delivered a terrible tackle on Emil Krafth that should have resulted in a second yellow card. It was risky, and Manchester United great Gary Neville admitted at the time that the referee ‘let him off’.
