The most recent transfer rumours from St James Park as Newcastle United prepare for the summer transfer window.
Newcastle United are allegedly prioritising the purchase of a Premier League centre-back during the summer transfer window following the injury to club captain Jamaal Lascelles.

The Magpies stalwart was forced to leave Saturday’s thrilling 4-3 victory over West Ham United due to what appeared to be a catastrophic knee injury sustained during the first half at St James Park. United stated that the long-serving centre-back suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury and will require surgery within the next week, followed by at least a six-month rehabilitation period.

In a statement issued on Sunday afternoon, the Magpies stated: “After seeing a specialist consultant, he is expected to undergo surgery next week and will be out for six to nine months.” “Everyone at Newcastle United wishes Jamaal a full and speedy recovery.”

With the summer transfer market just over two months away, the Magpies are presently putting together plans to strengthen Eddie Howe’s team, with various sources indicating at least one new centre-back is on the way. The injury to Lascelles has made the situation much more serious, with one report claiming one Premier League centre-back has already been identified as a significant target.

Just under five years have passed since current Magpies manager Eddie Howe made Bristol City star Lloyd Kelly one of his final signings during his lengthy reign at Bournemouth – and now there is talk of a reunion on Tyneside as the former England Under-21 defender approaches the end of his contract at the Vitality Stadium, with HITC claiming Newcastle are ready to’step up their interest’ in Kelly in the coming weeks.

When asked about Kelly’s contract situation last month, Cherries manager Andoni Iraola responded: “There is no news. I understand that the club is working on it. We would like to be part of his future plans. However, there have been no updates. Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Juventus, and AC Milan have all been linked with the Cherries star
