Wolves boss Gary O’Neil has supported his players to speak out about their anger with VAR following the Old Gold’s defeat to West Ham.
Wolves had another painful week after being denied a crucial point last weekend owing to VAR’s incompetence.
The Old Gold felt they’d found a way back into their Premier League match against West Ham on Saturday, only for Max Kilman’s last-gasp equaliser to be controversially ruled out due to VAR intervention.
The goal was ruled out in the 101st minute, not because Kilman was offside, but because Tawanda Chirewa was blocking Lukasz Fabianski’s view from an offside position.
Gary O’Neil described the decision as “terrible” and “crazy” after the game, and many other gaming figures shared his sentiments, including the disappointed Wolves coach.
Now, the 40-year-old has stated that he would not stop his players from expressing their displeasure with the decision, following a disastrous season for the Old Gold in terms of controversial VAR decisions.

O’Neil had a lot to say about the decision that cost his struggling squad a point late on at Molineux.
Speaking to the media after the game, the manager stated that he will not deny his players the chance to express their frustration with VAR rulings, as reported by Express & Star.
“They had discussions as a group of players earlier in the season around they don’t feel like they’re being respected by the officials.”
“I’ve talked them down a couple of times from figuring out what they want to do about that and how they want to handle it, but I can’t expect them not to this time.”
“I understand how they feel about it and whatever they decide to do about it is up to them.”
“I know they feel incredibly frustrated by the decisions that have gone against us this season.”

The most irritating aspect for O’Neil and his team is having to regroup after losing a game that they could have drawn if it hadn’t been for the controversial VAR judgment.
It’s a challenging period for the side, which has had their resources depleted owing to restricted personnel and significant injury problems, making every game a challenge for O’Neil to manage.
With seven games remaining, Wolves will continue to push to finish as high in the standings as possible, as the group has demonstrated time and again this season that they are unfazed by adversity.
