Nottingham Forest drew 2-2 with Wolves in the Premier League on Saturday, and Gary Lineker has shared a hilarious story from behind the scenes on Match of the Day.

The Reds had to come from behind after Matheus Cunha gave Wolves the lead. Morgan Gibbs-White and Danilo turned things around, putting Forest ahead with around half an hour remaining.

Wolves, on the other hand, were unstoppable, and Forest almost always concede from a set piece. Cunha scored his second goal of the afternoon, bringing the total to 22 goals from dead ball situations.

Martin Keown was present for Match of the Day this week. The commentator found time to laud Nuno Espirito Santo’s style of play, but now Lineker has given an interesting behind-the-scenes story.

Well, this does sound like a funny situation. Keown frequently appears on Match of the Day, but it turns out that the former Arsenal title-winner is a little confused about pronunciation.

On Saturday, Keown provided a lengthy and analytical review of the Forest’s match against Wolves at the City Ground.

Lineker has explained, however, that the name of Forest’s head coach, Espirito Santo, was causing him some issues ahead of time.

He told The Rest is Football Podcast: “Martin is fantastic, and we had a laugh yesterday, but he gets a little anxious about his pronunciation of some words.

“He often asks you how you pronounce everyone’s names. Just before his analysis of Forest, he turns to Micah and says, ‘It’s Nuno, isn’t it, Nu-no?’ Micah confirms.

“Martin was conducting his analysis, and Micah and I could not look at each other. We were both in stitches, and happily, it was a lengthy and excellent piece of analysis.”

Forest will hope Nuno is the name on everyone’s lips in May

There are now five games remaining in this asterix-dominated Premier League season, and the finish cannot come soon enough.

Forest have lost four points, whereas Everton have dropped eight overall this season.

The Reds are only one point ahead of Luton Town in the relegation battle, and the Hatters will play three of their last five games at home.

Espirito Santo will only be able to persuade some Steve Cooper-supporting Forest fans that he is the right man for the position if the team remains in the division.

Evangelos Marinakis made the unpopular decision to cut ways with Cooper in December, and consistency has yet to be achieved.

There is still a lot to play for, and Lineker’s narrative provides some amusement for Forest supporters to digest.

Hopefully, Espirito Santo will remain a Premier League manager next season as Forest avoid relegation to the Championship.
