Jay Fair, a former Auburn wide receiver, announced on social media Sunday afternoon that he is headed west to USC.
Fair announced his transfer destination barely eight days after entering the transfer site on April 20.
Fair had 31 receptions for 324 yards and two touchdowns in 2023, earning him the Tigers’ third-leading pass catcher last year.
During Auburn’s A-Day spring game, Fair was targeted five times and caught one pass for six yards.
Meanwhile, many of Auburn’s new wide receivers made an impression during the spring game, with freshman Cam Coleman, Georgia State transfer Robert Lewis, and Cal transfer Sam Jackson V all recording multiple catches.

And, based on words made by Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze following A-Day, it appeared like the Tigers will continue to attempt to add quality to their wide receiver group.
“We’ve got a couple spots left on our roster,” Freeze stated. “If you’re going to fill it, let’s do it with D-line and receivers.” I believe that’s where we need to add more depth.”
So far, despite losing Fair, the Tigers have added Penn State transfer wide receiver KeAndre Lambert Smith, who was Penn State’s leading receiver last season.
