According to X writer Richard Cawley, Charlton Athletic will want to hire at least one goalkeeper this summer.
Charlton Athletic are preparing for their first transfer window under Nathan Jones.
The Addicks already have a reasonably solid group, and they’ll be hoping to keep the core of it intact this summer while adding some new faces before going on the 2024/25 season.
As a result, some players may leave to pursue new opportunities, paving the way for new arrivals.
It has now been reported that the South London club will look to strengthen its goalkeeping position.
South London Press reporter Richard Cawley writes on X that Charlton Athletic are looking to sign at least one goalkeeper during the summer transfer season.
That’s despite the fact that both Harry Isted and Ashley Maynard-Brewer have contracts that extend beyond this year.

An exit awaits?
It will be interesting to observe how this affects the futures of Isted and Maynard-Brewer. Both could be sold for fees due to their contracts, but they are two solid goalkeeping options for Charlton Athletic.
However, the development may signal the end of Lewis Ward’s tenure at The Valley.
He only signed from Swindon Town in the winter, but he hasn’t found any game time for the Addicks, and with his contract ending in the coming months, it appears like he’ll be looking for pastures new ahead of next season.
That would allow a third goalkeeper to join, but it’s unclear whether they’ll be filling in for the current shot-stoppers or become Jones’ new number one as he begins his first window in command in South London.
Charlton Athletic will have a busy summer, with plenty of arrivals and departures predicted. With this recent development, it appears that the goalie department may be changing ahead of the 2024/25 season.
