The Arizona Cardinals needed to make certain that they addressed the wide receiver position this offseason. Monti Ossenfort and the front office needed to provide Kyler Murray with dependable weapons. Arizona had released DeAndre Hopkins prior to the 2023 season, allowed Marquise Brown go free to the Kansas City Chiefs, and then traded Rondale Moore to the Atlanta Falcons in return for quarterback Desmond Ridder.

In response to these developments, Ossenfort signed wideout Chris Moore from the Tennessee Titans in free agency, becoming the lone wideout to sign before the NFL Draft. Once the draft began, Ossenfort selected star wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. in the first round and UAB receiver Tejhuan Palmer in the sixth round. Following the draft, the Cardinals would sign undrafted free agency wide receiver Xavier Weaver.

Arizona’s receiving core looked much better than it had before free agency, but it still needed another veteran. Ossenfort would make a splash by signing veteran wideout Zay Jones after being released by the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Cardinals’ receiving corps appears more consistent now, giving Murray a chance to make an impact in the passing game.

With all of these moves, this experienced wide receiver could lose his spot on the Arizona roster.

Zach Pascal signed with the Cardinals in 2023 but produced little on offense. Pascal only had four catches for 19 yards last season (with one first-down catch). He started only one of his 14 games. Pascal has struggled in his last two seasons with the Cardinals and Philadelphia Eagles after starting with the Indianapolis Colts.

With Arizona rebuilding its wide receiver room this offseason, Pascal is at a significant disadvantage in making the roster. Not to mention that Pascal is entering the final year of his deal, but the Cardinals may save $1.9 million by dismissing him, according to overthecap.com.

Pascal might find himself on his way out of Arizona, hoping to play somewhere else in 2024.
