Mark Pope, the Kentucky Wildcats’ new head coach, has been working tirelessly since his hiring.

Pope has brought in a number of players through the transfer site and is now looking to recruit strong high school prospects.

Pope and his crew recently spent the weekend in Indianapolis, scouting and meeting with prospects who could fit into the new Kentucky program.

Trey McKenney, a 5-star prospect from Orchard Lake St. Mary’s in Flint, Michigan, has piqued the curiosity of Kentucky fans.

McKenney dominated in front of the Kentucky coaching staff, scoring 27 points and grabbing three rebounds in an 86-77 victory over the Mac Irvin Fire.

Kentucky Sports Radio spoke with McKenney following his outstanding performance in front of Alvin Brooks and others.

“That would mean a lot. “I’ve been following Kentucky since I was a kid,” McKenney remarked.

McKenney was not considered by John Calipari’s staff during his time in Lexington, but Pope has different intentions for the 6-foot-3 guard.
