Story LinksTalia von Oelhoffen has been signed as a graduate transfer to join the Women of Troy for 2024-25, according to head coach Lindsay Gottlieb, who announced the move today (May 2). She was an All-Pac-12 Team pick in her junior year at Oregon State and helped the Beavers advance to the NCAA Elite Eight this season.
“Talia’s basketball IQ is off the charts, and she’s incredibly versatile,” Gottlieb stated about von Oelhoffen. “I believe she will thrive in an uptempo system, and she has the ability to improve people around her. She is coming to USC to help us win at the highest levels and will provide the leadership that any championship-caliber squad requires. I can’t wait to see her in the Trojan outfit.”
Von Oelhoffen, a 5-11 guard from Tri-Cities, Washington, averaged 10.7 points and 5.0 assists per game for the Beavers last season. Von Oelhoffen, a driving factor for OSU’s successful 2023-24 season, was named Pac-12 Defensive Honorable Mention in addition to her All-Pac-12 Team honors. She also was named MVP of the Maui Classic and started all 35 games for the 27-8 Beavers, averaging 27.1 minutes per game and shooting 38.7 percent from the field, with 45 threes made.
Von Oelhoffen graduated from Chiawana High School as the No. 14 ranked player in the country. She was also the Washington 2B Player of the Year and a Jordan Brand Classic All-American. She earned 2021 Pac-12 All-Freshman Honorable Mention after joining the Beavers midway through the 2020-21 season, and she was named to the 2022 All-Pac-12 Team after leading OSU with 13.7 points per game that season. Von Oelhoffen battled injuries during her 2022-23 sophomore season, averaging 13.2 points, 3.3 assists, and 2.1 steals per game, earning All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention. That season, she also scored 41 points against Nevada, setting a career high.
Von Oelhoffen joins a USC squad that has won its second Pac-12 Tournament championship and advanced to the NCAA Elite Eight for the first time since 1994. She will join fellow All-Pac-12 Team members Kiki Iriafen, who is also a grad transfer to USC for 2024-25, as well as returning Trojans Rayah Marshall and JuJu Watkins. Von Oelhoffen’s addition to the Women of Troy squad gives USC a total of nine newcomers: grad transfers Iriafen and von Oelhoffen, as well as the nation’s top freshman class, which includes Rian Forestier, Kayleigh Heckel, Avery Howell, Vivian Iwuchukwu, Brooklyn Shamblin, Kennedy Smith, and Laura Williams.
“The staff and I were very intentional about utilizing the transfer portal to strengthen our team with the right people and players this spring,” Gottlieb stated. “We are attempting to develop a great program in all aspects, which requires the ability to bring in outstanding freshmen, help returning players grow, and add the right transfers. “We believe we did exactly that.”
Von Oelhoffen is completing undergraduate degrees in business and psychology at Oregon State and plans to pursue a master’s degree at USC.
