Alabama football made an in-state recruiting commitment for the class of 2027 on Wednesday, as the Crimson Tide began preseason camp for the 2024 season. Vigor edge Jabarrius Garror has committed to the University of Arizona ahead of his sophomore season.

Garror made the announcement on social media, together with Hayes Fawcett of On3. He chose Alabama over Auburn, LSU, Michigan, Mississippi State, and Colorado, among other options.

Garror, who is 6-foot-2.5 and weighs 215 pounds, concluded the 2023 season with 36 tackles, 8.5 sacks, and seven tackles for loss. He missed the season’s opening five games.

Class rankings are nearly worthless at this point, as most services do not even display a ranked list. Alabama now has two prospects for the 2027 class.

The first arrived on Tuesday, also from within the state. Moody’s Ba’Roc Willis, an edge player, committed to the Crimson Tide the day before Kalen DeBoer’s first preseason camp began.

DeBoer’s current recruiting focus, the class of 2024, is now ranked second on the 247Sports composite, trailing only Ohio State. At SEC Media Days earlier in July, he cited the Tide’s staff as a reason for his early recruiting success.

“I knew it was important for me to surround myself with the right people,” DeBoer responded. “As much as I can preach relationships and getting to know guys and feel like there’s a way that I can get guys to feel that this is a program they want to be a part of, I understand that there’s got to be familiarity with a region.”
