Birmingham City appointed former West Brom manager Tony Mowbray last week, and Carlos Corberan praises his contribution to the club.
Carlos Corberan has the highest regard for new Birmingham City manager Tony Mowbray, despite the fact that he has just recently arrived at the home of one of West Bromwich Albion’s West Midlands rivals! Mowbray took over as Blues manager this week, succeeding Wayne Rooney, and is ready for his St Andrew’s debut against Swansea City on Saturday.
The 60-year-old, who was surprisingly fired by Sunderland in December, returned to work almost immediately, choosing a job that has taken him back to this region of the nation, where he previously won the Championship with Albion in 2008 and also had a term at neighboring Coventry City.
Corberan, who shared six points with Mowbray’s Sunderland in two meetings last season, values what managers like Mowbray bring to football and, while completely focused on the time that will pass in between, will no doubt be looking forward to crossing swords with Mowbray again when Blues visit The Hawthorns at the start of February.
“Both ways – especially as a coach, because I know him more as a coach than as a man,” he remarked. “My opinion of him isn’t going to change because he signed with Birmingham!” I think the same thing about him. Not only him, but there are many coaches I like for their contributions to football and the way their teams play.
