Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna claimed that the club will make a ‘judgement call’ with Manchester United on what is best for Brandon Williams’ future in the second half of the season.
The Tractor Boys’ on-loan left-back from Manchester United last played for them against QPR on December 29 and has been out since due to illness.
In his pre-match press conference today, McKenna confirmed that the 23-year-old returned to his parent club earlier this week to be evaluated by the Manchester United medical team.
“Brandon is currently in Manchester, having returned to Manchester United.” Of course, he’s had a period of injuries and, more lately, illness. He spent this week back there being evaluated by their medical team and will not be with us tomorrow,” stated the Town manager.
“After that, it will have to be a conversation and, hopefully, he’s fit and available, can come back, and we can get back the Brandon Williams that we had through October and November.”
McKenna added that the full-back had ‘a couple contact knocks’ and a’soft-tissue injury’ in addition to his illness, but that it would be the Blues’ ‘wish’ to keep Williams.
