Arguably the finest safety in the 2026 cycle has joined Notre Dame to his list of preferred college possibilities, with hopes to return to South Bend.
He’s one of the greatest defensive backs in the 2026 class and could be the top safety in the following cycle.
Bralan Womack was a huge subject at Notre Dame throughout the offseason. He has now included the Irish to his Top 10, which also includes Alabama, LSU, Louisville, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Ohio State, Tennessee, Texas, and Texas A&M.
Hartfield Academy, the No. 1 safety in the 2026 cycle according to 247Sports, camped in South Bend in June and received an offer on the same day.
“It’s just a great offer to have, and I’m extremely blessed,” Womack told Eric Thomas on June 2. “I’ll be returning tomorrow for OTAs…beautiful campus, beautiful weather, extremely unique, and I enjoy it. It is serene. It’s just something that struck a chord with my heart.
“I’m just grateful.” So, hopefully, we can continue to develop relationships because Coach (Marcus) Freeman is a wonderful person. And, as I mentioned, you can see him bringing the swagger back to Notre Dame, and I believe they have a lot to look forward to.”
Along with Notre Dame making the cut, Womack has scheduled another trip to South Bend.
Notre Dame’s home game against Florida State is arguably the most anticipated game on the 2024-25 season. Womack is scheduled to appear in that primetime contest on November 9.
The Irish defensive backs coach has made a great effect on the Mississippi blue-chipper, as he has on many other high-end defensive backs on Notre Dame’s roster.
“Coach (Mike) Mickens is a cool guy,” Womack told Eric Thomas in June. “You know, he’s not just a ‘go get the ball’ person; he teaches you how to get the ball.
“As you can see, Notre Dame had a lot of turnovers last year that were forced, they weren’t just ‘gimmies,’ but Mikey talked about just getting the ball, and then just understanding how to play fast, play violent.”
Part of that impression stems from Mickens’ skill in generating star defensive backs during his tenure.
“(The staff) didn’t really have to talk to me about (Benjamin Morrison),” Womack said in June. “I’ve known B-Mo for a while and trained alongside him. B-Mo is a terrific guy, someone I admire…He maintains that posture…Many athletes simply walk about, but he does so with purpose.
“He knows why he’s here. He is 100% efficient in all he does, both within and outside the institution. He’ll know when he leaves here that he gave it his all.
Womack is among the highest-ranked prospects among a laundry list of exciting defensive talents in the 2026 class keeping a close eye on Notre Dame.
Without question, safety is a priority position group next cycle as the Irish continue to shore up the position following variable recruiting outcomes for years prior to the 2023 cycle.
