The Houston Astros received a significant boost on Friday as they seek to strengthen their lead in the AL West. The squad welcomed back All-Star outfielder, who had been out for more than three months due to a shin injury.
Tucker was injured during a 7-4 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals in early June and was first diagnosed with a shin contusion. But it came out that he had a shin fracture, which explained his extended absence.
Tucker was supposed to be assigned to the lower leagues before returning to the major leagues, but Houston chose a different route. On Friday, they activated the AL RBI leader for 2023 from the Injured List and used him in an 8-0 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Tucker had two at-bats without a hit and walked once.
Tucker told reporters after the game that he felt well at the plate but acknowledged the need for some improvements.
“There are a few things, and I need to make a few tweaks just to be live in a game. Tucker stated, “But I’m pretty good at making quick adjustments.”
Before the accident, Tucker was having one of his best seasons as a professional. He batted.266 with 19 home runs, 40 RBIs, and 10 steals in route to his third consecutive All-Star appearance.
