One of the biggest uncertainties for the Los Angeles Dodgers after the 2024 MLB season is whether they would re-sign outfielder Teoscar Hernández. Hernández signed a one-year, $23.5 million contract with the Dodgers in January, making him a free agent at the end of the season.

Hernández has proven to be an excellent acquisition to the Dodgers. Despite an offseason filled of key long-term signings for the Dodgers, including Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Tyler Glasnow, Hernández has been one of the Dodgers’ most important players this year, and at a reasonable price.

This season, Hernández has cut.In 140 Dodgers games, he batted 267/.333/.488 and had 143 hits, 76 runs, 28 home runs, and 87 RBIs. He is second on the team in hits, runs, doubles, home runs, and RBIs, despite the fact that Mookie Betts, Max Muncy, and Freddie Freeman have all been injured this season.

Hernández made his second career All-Star Game appearance and became the first Dodger to win the Home Run Derby.

If it were up to Hernández, he would remain with the Dodgers.

“I want to stay,” Hernández remarked during the show, according to Doug McKain. “I think everyone knows. I want to be a part of this team for the next three, four, or five years, but it is beyond my control. It has to do with the Dodgers. It is in their hands. I’m only trying to do my best.

Hernández has often expressed his wish to continue with the Dodgers once his one-year deal expires. He already expressed this wish in June.

“I want to stay,” Hernández told Bill Ladson of MLB.com in June. “I don’t want to continue bouncing around the league. I feel pleasant and comfortable here. I think I have a strong chance of winning. That is the most essential thing to me. It’s a fantastic group. “I’d love to stay.”

Hernández is now on his fourth MLB team, having previously played for the Houston Astros, Toronto Blue Jays, and Seattle Mariners before signing with the Dodgers. He is currently on his third team in three years and believes he has found a spot where he would like to settle for the foreseeable future.
