Green Day has been on tour for about a month, primarily playing in MLB ballparks, and frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has been redecorating at several of the stops. It all began in Toronto, when Armstrong discovered the A’s emblem and spray painted over it the Oakland Ballers’ “B” mark.
The band has posted similar escapades at past shows, but on Friday night, they were performing at Oracle Park in San Francisco, just over the bay from Oakland.
The show started with Rancid guitarist Lars Frederiksen taking the microphone and yelling, “F— John Fisher.” His entire family gets money off the backs of Bay Area residents, and now he wants to f— go to Vegas. F— him.” It should also be noted that Rancid is from Berkeley, a neighboring city to Oakland.
When it was time for the headliner to appear, Armstrong went into further detail.
“This is a very remarkable night. Tonight we are at home. This is my house. We, Green Day, are from the Bay Area. We live in the Bay Area. We can smell the Bay Area. We’re the refineries. We’re that cold Bay. This is us. “We are East Bay.”
He then confronted A’s owner John Fisher.
“We don’t take any s— from individuals like John Fisher, who wants to relocate the A’s to Las — Vegas. Las Vegas is my least favorite place. “It’s the worst place in America.”

It should also be noted that Armstrong attended last year’s “reverse boycott” game at the Coliseum and has been seen at both Oakland Ballers and Oakland Roots/Soul games in the last year, with fans approaching him for photos.
When a band discusses local sports, they are usually trying to rile up the audience. But for Green Day and Billie Joe Armstrong, it’s the real thing.
