Charlie Blackmon, the Colorado Rockies’ standout outfielder and four-time MLB All-standout, announced his retirement on Monday after 14 seasons with the Rockies.

Blackmon, 38, announced his retirement from the MLB on social media. will play six more games for the Rockies, all at the team’s home stadium, Coors Field, before the 2024 MLB regular season concludes and he retires.

“I have been blessed to call the city of Denver and the Colorado Rockies my baseball home for the entirety of my career,” Blackmon said in an Instagram post. “I appreciate the support of this organization, my teammates, and, most importantly, Rockies fans. With a grateful heart and a lifetime of memories, I embark on a new journey.”

Blackmon retires as the Rockies’ all-time triples leader, with 67. He is also second in Rockies history in hits (1,797), runs (991), extra-base hits (626), doubles (333), stolen bases (148), total bases (2,942), and games played (1,618). In 2017, he won the National League batting title with a.331 average and led the MLB in hits (213), runs scored (137), total bases (387), and triples (14).

Blackmon was named an All-Star four times, from 2014 to 2019. He won the Silver Slugger award twice, which is given annually to the finest offensive players at each position in Major League Baseball.

The Rockies will hold a pre-game celebration at Coors Field on Sunday before their season-ending home game against the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team said in a post to X.

“When Charlie informed me of his plans to retire, I became emotional, as I’m sure many fans will when they learn that one of the greatest Rockies of all time will no longer play,” Rockies owner and CEO Dick Monfort said in a statement. “It has been an honor to witness Charlie’s career from beginning to end here at Coors Field.
